I am from the Southeast and lived in Atlanta, Georgia for most of my life. My husband and I moved to Portland, Oregon in January of 2014. We drove across the country in about 5 days with a cat and dog in tote. It was a once in a lifetime trip! I have so many pictures. The trip was beautiful, though. The familiar hillsides of the southeast, the big blue skies of the midwest, the trees of Nebraska, and the mountains of Utah and Oregon were breathtaking. We now live in the St. Johns area and are loving it- especially when the weather is nice. :)
I have been actively involved in theatre since I was young but I also love to draw, write music, hang out in the sunshine, pretend I'm a master mixologist, cuddle with my pets, travel, and come up with just about any excuse to dress up. I'm always looking for new projects and could craft all day long if it was considered socially acceptable for people over the age of 5. I live for eating sushi and other fresh seafoods (also brunches . . .and avocados . . .and I love a good snack spread).
I married my best friend in October of 2009 and I feel lucky to have found someone so ridiculously awesome. We live with a magical cat named Kilgore and an absurdly happy dog named Atari. These are my peeps:

I am always looking for good book suggestions. My favorites are Vonnegut, Sedaris, and Salinger. I even named my cat Kilgore after Vonnegut's recurring character, Kilgore Trout. It's always nice to read something put simply, insightfully, and with humor.
I have a secret obsession with science. If I could be anyone besides myself, I would probably choose to be Neil deGrasse Tyson (or NDT as I like to call him). I have watched a large number of programs featuring NDT (or should it be NGT? NDGT?) and thoroughly enjoyed every one. I could watch documentaries about the universe, stars, space, the planets, and robots all day long. I also love TED talks and NPR"s Radiolab.
I would love to write science fiction for the stage using some tech heavy elements like light and shadow. Our universe has all the comedy, tragedy, and spectacle any storyteller could ever hope for. For example, I believe that there is, has been, and/or will be some form of life in the universe besides us. I don't know if there has ever been any intelligent life, but if so, the vastness of space has kept us from communicating. And as the universe expands, it will only become increasingly difficult for us to reach out into the ever-widening void. That's tragic.
Example numero dos, we are all literally made of stardust. This includes me and you. This also includes auto mechanics, Barbara Streisand impersonators, the chatty guy who works at your grocery store, Pro wrestlers, the Queen of England, the woman on the bus who just farted but is acting casual because she doesn't think anybody noticed although they did, and your Aunt Linda. That's more than a little bit hilarious.
Example the last, people who know more about science than I do say that our sun is also expanding. One day it will be a red giant and it will eat up surrounding planets like Pac-Man dots. Then it will be a white dwarf. Then. It. Will. Be. A. Diamond. Our sun will (hopefully) become one great big shiny piece of bling. That's spectacle-tacular.
Like most human beings, I love music. I like indie music, college radio, oldies, everything 80's, also everything 60's, and some bluegrass and very old country music. Some of my favorites are Radiohead, Velvet Underground, Patsy Cline, Iron & Wine, Deerhunter, Beatles, Au Revoir Simone, Death Cab For Cutie, Band of Horses, Of Montreal, Elliot Smith, Johnny Cash and June Carter, The Pixies, Sam Cooke, Queen, Cyndi Lauper, Arcade Fire, David Bowie, and The Cure. The list goes on. I was in a band very briefly once in high school. We were "Notorious L and The Flavor Crew". Great name, right? I am really excited to hopefully start up a band in the near future with my husband. Those band names are still pending.
I love art and great big museums that you can wander around in for days. The MET in NYC was one of the coolest places I have ever been. I have studied some art history and have taken some art/drawing classes but would love to study all of it so much more, especially painting and drawing. I have used some art and photography elements in some of my performance art pieces. Art and performance are two sides to the same coin in my mind that only sometimes use different tools and mediums.
