Hey all! So, I am super excited to announce that Three Men On A Horse will be opening this upcoming Friday, March 6th! I will be playing the role of Audrey Trowbridge, the worrisome wife to our protagonist. After an uncharacteristic spat that disrupts the wedded bliss of Audrey and Erwin Trowbridge, Erwin leaves home in a huff. He soon finds himself entangled in the company of a couple of wise guys who use Erwin's natural (and somewhat bizarrely miraculous) ability to correctly guess the winning horses at the racetrack to their advantage. Meanwhile, Audrey is left to wonder where her hubby has gone, if he's left her for good . . . or worse! Broadway's most recent revival of this show included such actors as Jerry Stiller, Tony Randall, Ellen Greene, and Julie Hagerty. This high energy comedy from the 1930's is chock full of giggles and hijinks, so don't miss your chance to join us during our six week run!
The holidays are here!! Yowzas! It always sneaks up on me.
We had a great run this December, though, and I really enjoyed working with my WVL gang. Village Players has been a delight and I will definitely miss those folks! I hope I get the chance to work with you all again. :) I am super looking forward to the new year and new projects as well! January means the beginning of rehearsals for Three Men On A Horse which is very exciting. More updates to come! Talk to you in 2015! Wow, people. Portland has been really good to me so far and I have been incredibly lucky to have met so many talented and generous people working in Portland's theatre and film community. I am super excited to announce lots of awesome updates!!!! Here goes:
1). We Can Speak To The Dead: Things are definitely moving forward for this sci-fi thriller which follows my character, Joyce, as she works to understand what is happening to the world around her after her subversive performance art piece goes much, much deeper than anticipated. Our short film has ben submitted to the Sundance Film Festival and we are eagerly awaiting their response as well as looking forward to more opportunities to submit to other film festivals in the near future. Fingers crossed! 2). On Homestead And Strangers: We finished up filming the bulk of this intimate and deeply moving short a little while back in the beautiful wilderness of a remote Eastern Oregon campsite. This was a one-of-a-kind experience working with a very talented Oregon cast and crew. This story follows a small family on their journey across the Oregon Trail and looks at how they deal with loss, the unknown, and the influence of a stranger in their camp. It is a great script and a very compelling story. We are very close to completion and I hope to have more updates soon! 3). Live From WVL: It's A Wonderful Life: I have been working with Village Players in Beaverton on this challenging and heartwarming script. I play the character of Kitty, a character actor performing with the award-winning WVL radio station in the late 1940's. Unfortunately, nearly the entire regularly scheduled cast has been stuck in a snow storm and won't be able to perform the show that evening though thousands of listeners are tuned in for the broadcast, including a live audience. It is a performance that can not only make or break her career, but also the future of the entire radio station and its staff. With no advance warning Kitty must jump into the fray and voice the performances of 12 different characters from the beloved holiday classic. No pressure, right? Our show runs December 11-19, 2014. Performances will be at 7:30 pm Thursday through Monday with an added 2:00 pm Sunday matinee, as well as two additional 7:30 pm performances Thursday the 18th and Friday the 19th. Come find out if 4 determined radio performers and a pianist can make sure Clarence gets his wings! 4). Three Men On A Horse: Coming Soon! I am very pleased to announce that I will be playing the role of Audrey Trowbridge in Lakewood Theatre Company's production of Three Men On A Horse which will run from March 6- April 12, 2015. This 1930's comedy is filled with laughs as my character struggles to figure out just what is happening to my beloved husband, Erwin. When my mild-mannered spouse becomes entwined with a gang of horse-betting loons with a get-rich-quick scheme, I am given no explanation for his strange new behavior or for his bizarre disappearances. As if that wasn't enough, I am all the while left to deal with my overbearing brother Clarence and his disdainful opinion of Erwin. Needless to say, hijinks ensue! 5). I have also begun a new working on a collaboration involving a new story. I will wear many hats on this one- writing, directing, acting, and more! The brainstorming, writing, and preliminary meetings have already begun. Stay tuned for more! That's it for now, all! I will share more when I have any updates, pictures, and information. Thanks dudes! :) Thank you so much to those who contributed to the Kickstarter for We Can Speak to the Dead! We have already begun filming and are so enjoying the opportunity to work on such a unique and compelling piece. I can't wait to share more information regarding images, videos, links, and events for this project! :)
"We Can Speak to the Dead", an original feminist sci-fi film that I am working on here in Portland. Please click on the link below to access the Kickstarter page which features information about the film and director, an awesome trailer, and lots of fun goodies for those who are interested in contributing. We have a short 19 days to get this project funded, but our hopes are high that we will be able to move into production soon! I am very excited about this project because of its goals, especially when the dialog about gender equality is so prevalent. As someone who cares deeply about the issues of gender equality and the way women are portrayed in media, I feel privileged to be working on a thrilling film that helps to enact positive change concerning these issues.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1577879209/fund-my-sci-fi-short-film-we-can-speak-to-the-dead If enough money is raised, then I will be playing the lead in "We Can Speak to the Dead." The film follows my character (Joyce) as she works on her next artistic project. It's a one-of-kind installation piece gone horribly out of control. When people with power try to seize her work for their own, she decides to take things into her own hands. It's an awesome character and I hope to share more info about this opportunity soon! Check out my sweet zip lining skillz. Went to Pensacola and zip lined for the first time! Afterwards, I did a quick interview for the t.v.! If you watch the link below, I am the smooth lady who oh so brilliantly and insightfully posits that, "Kayaking is cool." http://www.wkrg.com/story/25540465/more-than-hangout-this-weekend#.U3aqLrTN6qg.facebook |
